Dan-e-o - Dear Hip Hop LP
Dan-e-o is a Canadian rapper, actor, and songwriter from Toronto, Ontario, known for his sharp lyricism and long-standing influence on Canadian hip-hop. His career began at just 13 years old when he won a rap-off competition on the popular Toronto television show Electric Circus in 1991, an achievement that helped launch his journey as an MC. Throughout the 1990s, he became active in Toronto's growing hip-hop scene and later co-founded the crew Monolith, helping establish an independent presence for Canadian rap.
A major turning point came in 1996 when his debut single, "Dear Hip Hop," appeared on the influential compilation Rap Essentials Volume One. The song—essentially a heartfelt letter to hip-hop culture—quickly became regarded as a Canadian hip-hop classic and introduced Dan-e-o to a national audience.
Years later, Dan-e-o expanded that legacy with the album Dear Hip Hop, a collection of material written and recorded during the golden era of 90s Boom Bap. We are now proud to present you with a limited vinyl reissue of 300 copies total, available in 3 different colors. The release will also include an insert with a bio of the early days written by Dan-e-o himself and an original promo photo.
Much respect to @divohiphop for the artwork and a big shoutout to real_keru for the mastering. Props to @urbnet for the collabo!
